Creator disclosure: Empire Publishing Tools is our product portfolio. This guide introduces our WP Content Author Review plugin.
Before migrating a WordPress site or retiring an account, collect evidence about the authors assigned to your posts and pages. A stored author ID may refer to a missing account. An existing account can still be the wrong attribution. Treat these as questions for your editorial review, not reasons for automatic reassignment.
WP Content Author Review provides a read-only inventory under Tools > Content Author Review. After Pro activation, authorized administrators can review twenty eligible records at a time and continue through content IDs with Next records. Each visible row reports a content ID and its author relationship. An unassigned record is distinguished from one whose account is missing.
The report omits names, email addresses, titles and content. Numeric IDs are still internal information, so keep the report within your administrative workflow. Access requires manage_options and list_users, plus permission to edit each record. Restricted records are withheld rather than shown with their private details.
Account existence is only one fact. It does not prove who wrote the content, whether the account belongs to the current site, whether it can edit that content now, or whether its attribution is correct. Confirm those questions with your editorial records and appropriate WordPress administration tools. The plugin performs no identity or security certification.
The inventory covers posts and pages, excluding trash, auto-drafts, attachments and other content types. Results and counts are page-local; records can change while you move between pages. It does not present an incomplete page as a site-wide audit.
For any correction, first agree on the intended attribution, back up the site and test your normal editing workflow in staging. The plugin changes nothing, deletes nothing and offers no automatic reassignment. Pro is $19 USD per year for one website, plus applicable tax, with a conditional 14-day refund policy. It requires WordPress 6.2+ and PHP 8.0+. Freemius handles licensing, updates and downloads separately.
