An older WordPress archive may reference video players, maps or other embedded content from several providers. Before replacing one, start with the sources saved in your posts and pages. A local inventory can help you choose what to inspect without loading every embed during that first pass.
Creator disclosure: WealthFromAI and Empire Publishing Tools are part of our own portfolio. This guide introduces our paid WP Embed Source Review plugin. It is not an independent review, and this tool does not guarantee compliance, traffic or revenue.
Start with a host, not a verdict. WP Embed Source Review reads saved core/embed block URLs and iframe source attributes. It reports only the host, source kind and occurrence count. Seeing a host does not establish that a visitor's browser contacted it. Consent settings, conditional rendering and other code can change what actually happens on a page.
Review small batches. Open the Tools screen as an administrator and inspect five posts or pages at a time. You must also have permission to edit each source. Use the exact-host filter to narrow the current batch, then continue through subsequent batches. The list is ordered by newest IDs; it is not an unlimited site-wide host search. Follow the source edit link when you need to investigate the original content.
Keep sensitive URL details out of the inventory. Paths and queries can contain private identifiers. This report does not expose full URLs, paths, queries, credentials or content excerpts and does not store scan results. The scanner never renders embeds, fetches their URLs, executes shortcodes or edits posts. Freemius handles licensing separately.
Understand what is missing. Dynamic scripts, shortcodes, bare URL auto-embeds, templates, widgets, custom post types and referenced pattern contents are excluded. Invalid, missing, relative, credential-bearing, IPv6 and non-ASCII host URLs remain unknown. Each item has limits of 200 KB, 500 block nodes, depth 32, 1,000 HTML tags and 100 source matches. A partial result needs further investigation; an empty result does not prove that the rendered page has no embeds. Block and iframe counts are separate saved observations rather than a count of unique rendered players.
Verify the real page before making changes. On staging, inspect the actual visitor experience, including applicable consent choices, and confirm that replacement content works. This inventory is not a network monitor or compliance audit. Pro costs $19 USD per year for one website, plus applicable taxes, with conditional 14-day refund terms at checkout. WordPress 6.2+ and PHP 8.0+ are required.
