A scheduled post that has not appeared deserves investigation, but changing its date immediately can hide useful evidence. Start by comparing the saved publishing time, the current site timezone and the mechanism responsible for publishing. Keep your existing publishing system in place while you establish what happened.

Separate the saved time from the clock display. WordPress stores local and UTC dates. A timezone-setting change can leave those values out of agreement. WP Scheduled Content Review shows the saved UTC date, its display in the current site timezone and whether the local date agrees. Invalid saved dates remain unknown. Check the server clock and your intended editorial timezone before drawing conclusions.
Review a bounded batch. The Tools screen shows ten scheduled posts or pages at a time, newest IDs first. An administrator also needs permission to edit each item. The screen offers all-items, past-due and needs-review filters within each batch. Continue through all pages for broader coverage. An empty filtered batch does not prove the rest of the site is healthy, and custom post types and external queues are outside this review.

Treat the core event as one signal. The tool checks WordPress's publish_future_post event for the exact post ID. A missing or mismatched event is worth reviewing, but another publisher may use a different mechanism. Past due means the saved UTC time is more than 30 minutes behind the server clock while the item still has future status. That label describes the observed state, not a proven root cause or failed service.
Keep the inspection read-only. WP Scheduled Content Review does not publish, reschedule, execute cron, edit content, store results or send scanner network requests. It shows schedule metadata rather than content excerpts. Freemius handles licensing separately. This preserves the evidence while you investigate the responsible plugin, host task or external workflow.
Test the correction on staging. Record what you observed, check the existing publisher's logs and try a representative scheduled item on a staging copy. Make one justified change, then verify the actual published result. The review screen is an on-demand snapshot, not continuous monitoring or a delivery guarantee. Pro costs $19 USD per year for one website, with applicable taxes and conditional 14-day refund terms at checkout. WordPress 6.0+ and PHP 8.0+ are required.
